Brian S. Brink, Ph.D.
Associate Professor of Music

"I strive to engage every student and provide the essential ingredients that will build a strong knowledge base and a foundation for continued learning. Getting to know each student beyond the classroom personalizes the learning and directs my teaching toward their abilities. Whatever a student's strengths, leading them to search beyond their reach for progressively new skills, is my approach."

Dr. Brink has served in a diversity of roles at Florida Southern College. He currently teaches trombone, freshman and sophomore level Music Theory and Aural Skills, and Orchestration. He has also acted as the Music Department Chair and Director of Instrumental Studies. Dr. Brink is also the former director of the FSC Jazz Ensemble. He earned his Doctor of Music Performance from Florida State University, Master of Music Performance from the University of North Texas, and Bachelor of Music Performance from Florida State University. He is active in the central Florida area as bass trombonist in the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra. As a freelance musician he has performed throughout Florida, having worked with such artists as Ray Charles, Mel Torme, Dizzy Gillespie, Peter Nero, Robert Goulet, Shirley Jones, The Joffrey Ballet, The Moody Blues, The Temptations, and Kansas. Dr. Brink enjoys traveling, carpentry and home projects, and spending time with his two grandsons.
