Community Education at FSC provides outstanding programs for local residents to pursue their interests through non-credit courses to provide lifelong learning. The option is yours... explore the arts, discover a new hobby, immerse yourself in another culture, or sharpen your technology skills.

Introduction to ComputersThis beginner course will cover everything from how to use a mouse, create and save files, Internet search tools, how to open an email account, work with photos and music, routine computer maintenance and virus/malware protection, and much more. No previous computer experience necessary.

SPANISH language - beginnerSpanish is the second most natively spoken language in the world. Learn common Spanish phrases and questions in addition to special sections devoted to pronunciation and communication strategies. The course also includes listening skills and information on cross-cultural issues. No prior knowledge of Spanish is required.

ITALIAN language - beginnerItalian is main language of Italy and spoken by about 70 million people worldwide. It is often considered to be one of the most beautiful-sounding languages in the world. Learn the basics of Italian speaking and listening including conversational phrases and questions. You'll be ready to explore Italy!

American Sign Language - beginnerAs the primary language of thousands of deaf and hard of hearing individuals, ASL is the third most used language in America today. Learning to communicate with deaf and hard of hearing people is fun! Here you will acquire an awareness of deaf culture, fingerspelling, and basic conversational signs. The skills you learn here can improve communication in other aspects of your life as well. This introductory survey course is designed for individuals with no prior exposure to American Sign Language.

Basic DrawingIf you want to learn how to draw and don't know where to start - start here! Through classic exercises you will develop the hand-eye coordination needed to sketch any subject successfully. Focusing on the basic elements of drawing—line, texture, shading, and composition—you will learn and practice a variety of techniques while exploring different media.

Beginning QuiltingThe fundamental terminology and techniques of quilt making will be presented. Students will be able to successfully complete a project and acquire the skill to understand printed instructions on their own. Home LandscapingThis course is designed to help make a practical landscape plan. Whether you are beginning a new landscape or improving an existing one, you will learn important steps to develop a successful landscape design and complete a landscape plan. Topics include site analysis assessment, developing use areas, planting design with proper plant placement, and instructions on soil preparation, transplanting, pruning, fertilization, irrigation and pest control.
