Paula Parsché, MM
Associate Professor of Music
"My goal as a teacher and mentor is to challenge each student, at his or her level, to explore the vastness that is music. I strive to encourage students to seek means by which to gain informational context, develop and implement skills and strategies, and communicate in appropriate and diverse ways. In turn, I expect that they will carry forward a positive model of teaching and learning that they may share with others."
Having received her undergraduate degree in Music from Florida Southern College, pianist Paula Parsché went on to pursue graduate studies at Florida State University and completed her Master of Music degree in Piano Performance at the University of South Florida. With her strong interest in accompanying and equally compelling curiosity about the traditions of European musical study, Ms. Parsché then began a period of specialized performance studies in collaborative piano (vocal and chamber music) in both Vienna and Salzburg.
Joining the FSC faculty in 1980, Professor Parsché began a career in teaching and performing that has been characterized by her many interests. As a pianist, she has become well-known for her rich variety of musical activities, ranging from solo, orchestra, and chamber music performances to vocal accompanying and coaching. In the classroom and studio, Professor Parsché teaches in her areas of specialization - piano, theory, and accompanying. Off campus, she has appeared throughout the state as a performer, master class teacher, and adjudicator. She is the founding member of the Hollingsworth Trio, now celebrating its 25th year as an active professional chamber music group.
Professor Parsché currently serves as Music Department Chair.
