Dr. Coash attended University of South Florida where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance and Music Education in addition to graduating Cum Laude (1981). After earning his Masters Degree in Performance at Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois School of Music M. M. (1983), Coash went on to have a teaching assistantship at University of Michigan (1999).

In addition to his responsibilities at Florida Southern College he is also Acting Principal Percussion at The Florida Orchestra in Tampa, Florida and he teaches at University of Tampa. Coash also is Co-founder/Director at Spectrum Contemporary Ensemble Inc., located in Tampa, Florida. Additionally he is Principal Percussion at the Lake George Opera in Glens Falls, New York.

He is involved in several professional and honorary organizations including Pi Kappa Lambda, Percussive Arts Society, Florida Bandmasters Association, American Federation of Musicians, College Music Society, National Association of College Wind and Percussion Instructors.
