Career Center › Gaining Experience
The single biggest mistake students make is not getting enough experience before trying to land their first job after graduation. Employers want experience, so get it BEFORE you graduate!
An internship is a work-related learning opportunity designed to help students develop hands-on experience in a related field. There are two types of internships available at Florida Southern College:
Academic Internships. Academic internships are credit-bearing experiences whose criteria are determined by your department. Each department has its own set of guidelines and expectations for the completion of the academic internship.
Regular Internships. These are experiences provided by companies and organizations to give students an opportunity to gain experience in their chosen fields. Internships can be paid or unpaid and vary in length.
