Student Complaint and Appeal Procedures

Florida Southern holds that student grievances are best handled by the professional staff within the specific area associated with the complaint rather than centralized in a single office or individual. Therefore, complaints and appeals are addressed by various offices depending on the nature of the grievance.

How does the meal plan work?

The weekly plans break down as follows:

20 meal plan 6 meal swipes in Wynee's Bistro and $55 in points that can be used at any food venue on campus including Wynee's. On the 20 meal plan, points used in Wynee's are charged at 3.96 per meal.
15 meal plan 5 meal swipes in Wynee's Bistro and $46 in points that can be used at any food venue on campus including Wynee's. On the 15 meal plan, points used in Wynee's are charged at 4.61 per meal.
10 meal plan 3 meal swipes in Wynee's Bistro and $40 in points that can be used at any food venue on campus including Wynee's. On the 10 meal plan, points used in Wynee's are charged at 5.74 per meal.
5 meal plan 34 points that can be used at any food venue on campus including Wynee's. On the 5 meal plan points used in Wynee's are charged at 6.86 per meal.

Keep in mind that you are able to eat more times in Wynee's than the minimum number of meals. When you do, each additional time your points will be charged for the meal rate of your particular plan. The swipes (only good at Wynee's) do not rollover from week to week. The unused points (dollars) will roll over from week to week but cannot be carried over to the next semester. (The swipes and points will be prorated during weeks with breaks, such as fall and spring break). The week period begins Monday morning and ends Sunday night.

Do I have to attend Convocation? What do I need to do if I miss a Convo?

Yes, Convocation is a graduation requirement. If you are unable to attend, then you can watch an encore showing the following week or be subject to a $100 fee.

I lost my student ID, how do I get a new one?

Student IDs can be obtained at the Campus Safety office.

Where do I go to get a parking permit?

Parking permits can be obtained through the Campus Safety office.

What does the student health insurance cover?

A copy of the brochure outlining the benefits covered through Florida Southern's student health insurance can be obtained online or at the Student Health Center.

Do I have to leave campus during breaks?

While our residence halls are closed during fall, Thanksgiving, winter, and spring breaks, you may stay for some of those periods at no charge. You’ll need to let the Office of Community Living know in advance if you plan to stay during one of these. Staying on campus during Thanksgiving does incur a charge. No one may stay during winter break when the campus is closed. Complete details on break policies can be found online.
