The globalization of business is one of the defining economic trends of the modern era. The developments of massive communications networks, the reduction of trade barriers, and the economic ascent of nations such as India and China have caused global trade to grow at unprecedented speeds, and graduates with the skills to navigate the global marketplace are in high demand.
Living in one of the world's largest trading nations, it is essential that business professionals can understand the practice of international trade, identify sound investments, and navigate the political, legal, cultural, technological, and economic environments in which international business transactions occur.
This career track is designed to provide you with a solid background in the nature of international business. You will gain an understanding of the unique challenges posed by globalization so you can plan and implement successful business strategies. You’ll learn how globalized commerce affects a company’s structure and operations, along with strategies for entering foreign markets and managing cultural differences.
Students who choose to focus on international business are encouraged to take a broad range of courses, including related electives such as political science and sociology, to gain an in-depth understanding of the multicultural marketplace.
As part of your studies, you’ll have the opportunity to travel overseas and to study language and business first hand, growing your interpersonal skills and expanding your cross-cultural perspective. More about Study Abroad »
