ONE MORE AWARD FOR HOPKINS;
SENIOR MIDFIELDER NAMED TO NSCAA DIVISION II ALL-AMERICAN TEAM

Senior midfielder Erin Hopkins put the finishing touches on her college career this week by being named a Third Team All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. That honor comes on the heels of several others for Hopkins, who had already been named First Team All-Sunshine State Conference, First Team All-South Region, and Second Team Academic All-American.

Hopkins led Florida Southern with a school-record 36 points this year, picking up 12 goals and 12 assists. She had at least one point in 16 of the Mocs' 20 games, and helped them set another school record with 55 goals. Hopkins ranked third in the SSC in points, was sixth in goals, and tied for the league lead in assists. She's the first Moccasin to reach double digits in both goals and assists in the same season, and the first player in the Sunshine State Conference to do so since 2005.

Hopkins was home-schooled in Winter Haven, but played four years at nearby Lake Region High School where she had 72 goals and 40 assists in four years for the Thunder. After playing two seasons at the University of Central Florida, Hopkins transferred to Florida Southern in 2007, had seven goals and 18 points, and was a First Team All-SSC selection. She earned that honor again this year, making her the only Moccasin in the program's 11-year history to be first team all-conference in back-to-back seasons.

With the numbers she posted as a senior, Hopkins finished fourth in school history with 54 career points, despite playing only two seasons for the Moccasins. She'll graduate this year with a degree in Athletic Training.

Florida Southern recently finished the most successful season in team history, posting a 14-4-2 record. The Moccasins finished second in both the SSC regular season standings and the SSC Tournament, and earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament for the first time ever.
