Florida Supreme Court member Fred Lewis ’69 has continued to be a leader since his college days. A member of the State’s highest court since 1998, Justice Lewis serves as liaison to the Florida Board of Bar Examiners, the Judicial Management Council, the Committee on the Rules of Civil Procedure, the Committee on Standard Civil Jury Instructions, and the Code and Rules of Evidence Committee. FSC Honor Walk student and a star basketball player, Fred went on to make his mark on the legal profession. After his service in the military, he entered private practice in Miami, specializing in civil trail and appellate litigation. It was from there his appoint to the State’s highest court occurred. Justice Lewis has also been heavily involved in children’s issues serving on numerous committees and panels. He was selected as Florida’s Citizen of the Year in 2001 by the Florida Council.
