Southern Spotlight
John Antoon, ‘68
United States District Judge

John’s remarkable career in law began with a noteworthy four years at Florida Southern, where he was president of the senior class and a member of the FSC supreme court, student government, Omicron Delta Kappa, R.O.T.C., and other organizations. Two FSC professors – Dr. Jacks, psychology, and Dr. Hoffman, history – made a lasting impression on him, and John credits the solid, thorough foundation he received here with much of his success to come. His recognitions include the Brevard County President’s Award in 1991, the Marjorie Olson Child Advocacy Award in 1992, and the Gary L. Formet Sr. Criminal Justice Award in 2004, among others. He founded the Vassar Carlton Inn of Court, and holds membership with the Central Florida Inn of Court.

“The most important thing FSC did to prepare me for my career was to provide me with a liberal arts education that has served me well.”
