To apply for financial aid at Florida Southern, follow these 5 steps:
Before you can be considered for financial aid, you must be accepted to Florida Southern. Your first step? Submit your application for admission, along with a financial aid application. As a bonus, most scholarships are automatic for eligible students accepted to Florida Southern.
Programs and application procedures vary by state. See your high school guidance office for details.
File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which determines your eligibility for all federal aid—including loans and need-based institutional aid. Complete the FAFSA after Jan. 1 and before March 15 of your senior year. Florida Southern’s code on the FAFSA is 001488.
In early March, Florida Southern will notify you of all college-funded, state, and federal aid that's available to you. Watch for this notification and promptly return requested items to our Financial Aid Office.
Review your payment plan and prepare to make additional payments.
Working with you, we'll design a financial aid package that allows you to pursue your dream of a Florida Southern education.

There are three types of financial assistance—scholarships, grants, and loans. Scholarships and grants do not require repayment. Loans must be repaid with interest.
Scholarships are merit-based aid, which means they are offered based on merit or achievement in a specific area. They do not need to be repaid. If you have a strong academic credentials, talent(s) in athletics or fine arts, leadership experiences, and/or outstanding or community service, you may very well be eligible scholarships from Florida Southern.
Grants are a form of need-based aid, which means they are distributed based on financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Loans are a form of need-based aid, which means they are offered based on financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Many of our students are employed at businesses and restaurants throughout the Lakeland area. For need-based students who qualify, the Federal Work-Study program provides students with part-time jobs to help meet their financial need and offer work experience on campus and in the community. Work-study students may work up to 20 hours per week and earn up to $1,200 per year. Eligibility for work-study and other federal programs is based upon the FAFSA, which must be filed annually.
After you have completed the FAFSA and the Financial Aid Office has received your application, you will receive instructions on what information is still needed to complete your file and confirm your financial aid package.
