We, at Florida Southern College, would like you to know, you are first and most importantly an individual.
Future Students › Getting In › Admission Criteria
What factors are evaluated when we review your application? What do we look for in a Florida Southern student? The Admission Committee evaluates freshman applicants on the following criteria:
A recalculated high school GPA is used as a basis for admission, although trends in performance are also considered as part of the evaluation process. Students earning the high school equivalency diploma (GED) can also be considered for admission.
Scores on either the SAT or ACT. Results of these examinations, when evaluated along with an applicant's academic record, provide a reasonably accurate prediction of the candidate's ability to experience success in a FSC classroom. The College expresses no preference for one examination over the other, and encourages students to take both. The school code for the SAT is 5218. The school code for the ACT is 0732. If you want your scores to be sent to us, this code must be placed in the proper location.
Letters of recommendation. Each candidate is expected to submit at least one letter of recommendation, which must be academic. The form for this recommendation is available online or you may simply submit a standard letter or recommendation from an appropriate source.
