Where are you from?
Detroit, Michigan
What do you enjoy most about working with students?
I love meeting students who wish to
stay close to home [since that’s my territory], but still have the four-year college experience.
What do you like most about being involved with FSC’s
recruitment efforts?
I value the relationships I’m building with students, parents, and
counselors. I love learning about each student I meet and seeing how FSC can be a fit for them.
What's your favorite spot on Florida Southern's campus?
It's a tie between the Water
Dome and the McKay Archives Building. However, you can see the Water Dome from the McKay Archives Building!
Describe a perfect Saturday in Lakeland.
My perfect Saturday starts with a walk to the
downtown Lakeland farmer’s market for hot beignets and chicory coffee, followed by time browsing through the
many antique shops. Later, I’d go for a run around beautiful Lake Hollingsworth and have dinner at the Red
Door before taking a sunset stroll through one of our nature preserves.
Any favorite restaurants or hangouts in Lakeland?
Fresco’s Bakery and Bistro offers the
best Sunday brunch in town, but if I’m in the mood for a burger I head to Chop Shop downtown. Both have live
music on the weekends and excellent outdoor seating. If I want iced coffee, I head to Mitchell’s Coffee House,
but for the best vanilla latte and chocolate chip cookie, hands down the best place is Black and Brew.
California, and the following counties in Florida: Hernando, Hillsborough, Pasco, and Pinellas
As a singer, I cover a lot of Grace Potter songs. I have a huge variety in my taste in music—ranging from Ludwig van Beethoven to Etta James, Ben Sollee, Jason Aldean, and Eminem. I’m constantly on the prowl for new sounds and have an appreciation for most music.
My all-time favorite book/movie is Princess Bride—which is odd considering I don’t enjoy love stories or chick flicks. I’m a Zombie nerd and like cult classics like Hot Fuzz and Arrested Development.
Bachelor's in Broadcasting and Communication with a minor in Journalism from Southeastern University
"You can't build a reputation on what you’re going to do." —Henry Ford
Any hobbies or outside interests?
My mother was an artist, so I dabble in painting and
drawing and enjoy visiting art museums. I love history [Washington, D.C. is one of my favorite places to
visit], and I’ve been all over the country. It’s so fascinating to learn about our country.
What's something that would surprise people about you?
Most people don't know that on the
weekends I occasionally ride with a motorcycle group.
Other unusual, interesting, noteworthy, or peculiar facts or trivia about you?
I pronounce the word 'bagel' like Canadians do, and I still say 'pop' when I refer to the carbonated
beverage. However, I quickly adopted the Southern 'ya'll' and now drink sweet tea.
