Invasion of France

March 1-7, 2014

The trip offers a once in a lifetime opportunity to visit one of America’s and the worlds’ most famous battle sites in France.

The experience consists of privately guided tours of the many sites along Normandy’s beaches, an opportunity to visit many famous places in Paris, along with numerous embedded opportunities to immerse yourself in the French culture and lifestyle.

Tentative Schedule of Events and Activities: This trip is planned for March 1st through 7th. Participants fly out of Tampa Int’l Airport to Charles de Gaulle Airport and return via the same route.

March 1 Leave FSC for Tampa Int’l Airport (TPA) 12pm (for a flight departure around 4pm)
March 2 Arrive Paris 8:30am, load rental vans, drive to Bayeux, check in the hotel, and then enjoy French culture.
March 3 Private tour of:  American Airborne, Ste Mere Eglise, Utah Beach, Band of Bros. Memorial, then enjoy French culture.
March 4 Private tour of: Omaha Beach, Omaha Beach (WN-62), American Cemetery, Pointe du Hoc, German Cemetery, then enjoy French culture.
March 5 Private tour of:  Pegasus Bridge, Juno Beach, Gold Beach, Mulberry Harbor, Longues Battery, Integration, then enjoy French culture.
March 6 Depart Bayeux for Paris, check into hotel in Roissy (2 to 4 miles from airport), drive to Paris to visit designated points of interest.
March 7 Depart France at 10am for return flight to Tampa.

Prerequisite: Current enrollment in Military Science 1001-4001; students studying French or History, or have attended Military History. Others without this background will be approved by a case by case basis by the professor.
