Lori Rakes, M. Ed.
Instructor of Education
"It is my desire as a teacher educator to help preservice teachers meet their fullest potential in the classroom by providing an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invites a sharing of ideas. There is a need for compassionate, strong, and dedicated individuals who are excited about working with children. In our competitive society it is important for students to receive a solid education and work with someone who is sensitive to individual needs."
Lori Rakes is an instructor at Florida Southern College where she teaches language arts and reading methods courses to undergraduate students. Her research interests stem from 23 years of experience as a classroom teacher and include reading difficulties in the upper elementary grades and what effect this has on learning in later years.
