The Barney Barnett School of Business & Free Enterprise invites you to participate in the Florida Southern College Invitational Case Competition.

Registration is closed. We are excited to welcome teams from the following institutions:

The case will be distributed the morning of Tuesday, October 7th. Please review the case packet and make note of any questions you may have. Each team may prepare two questions for the call. We will let each team ask their first question of Peace River, then will come back around to each team for a second question. This way, your team’s second question may be answered by another team’s first question, giving your team the opportunity to ask a different question.

Important dates to be aware of:

  • Tuesday, October 21st – A financial data packet will be distributed to the teams
  • Tuesday, October 28th – We will host a second conference call (using the same phone number and conference code from above) to answer remaining questions regarding the case.

The 2014 Florida Southern College Business Strategy MBA Case Competition will take place November 7 - 8, 2014.

Select schools from across the country will be invited to participate in this exhilarating competition. Participants will have one month to analyze a complex business strategy case and present to a panel of judges. This is an excellent networking opportunity as students will have the chance to interact with fellow MBA candidates from other programs, as well as corporate sponsors and judges. Cash prizes will be given to the top two teams!

Competition Guidelines

Team Composition

Each school will select two to four graduate students to serve as a team. To be eligible, students must be enrolled in a graduate program during the fall term of that calendar year.

Selection of Presentation Times

On Saturday morning (9:00 AM), representatives from each team will draw for the presentation order. In addition, all teams must submit copies of their presentation materials (e.g., slides and/or other support materials) to the competition coordinator at that time.

Presentation Format

Teams will be given twenty minutes to present their recommendations for action. All members of the team must participate in the presentation. Each team will be provided two overhead projectors to present their findings. To eliminate any compatibility issues, teams will be asked to provide their own laptops (and appropriate adapters) to use during the presentations. After the twenty minutes, a five minute question and answer period will follow. Questions will only come from the panel of judges.

Panel of Judges

The panel of judges will be comprised of individuals from industry, experts in the field, and invited scholars (college professors not affiliated with any competing team).

Other Important Notes

To remove any potential bias by the judges, no team will be allowed to identify their affiliation to any school from Friday morning to the time the winners are announced. Therefore, no one will be permitted to state their school affiliation, wear anything that would identify their institution, or have any content in their presentation that would identify their institution. Florida Southern will host a Meet & Greet reception on Thursday evening and the Saturday afternoon luncheon.
