ROTC
The training cadets receive in the Florida Southern ROTC program is rigorous, intense, and fun. Each semester, cadets attend a 3-day Field Training Exercise (FTX) during which they practice the leadership skills and military tactics they have been taught in the Leadership Labs. On an FTX, cadets will conduct both day and night operations in a variety of terrain and environments. Skills such as land navigation, basic infantry tactics, leadership, and physical readiness are all put to the test.
Training

Part of becoming an Army Officer is challenging yourself beyond what you you can do. We include adventurous activities into our program allowing cadets to push themselves to the edge and beyond and to do things most Americans do not get to do. We rappel down a 40-foot tower, run through challenging confidence courses, conquer a Field Leadership Reaction Course, and learn how to survive in the water.

Cadets who want more adventure and like to compete on teams, may try out for our outstanding Ranger Challenge Team. Only the best compete in ranger challenge, a competition where your 9 person team goes up against others schools in a series of military skills events including:

Hand grenade assault course
One-rope bridge building across a river
M-16 rifle disassembly/assembly
Land navigation
Rucksack march
Army physical fitness test

Summer Training:

Every summer, the top cadets are chosen to attend one of several U.S. Army Schools: US Army Airborne Training (Georgia), US Army Air Assault Training (Hawaii), Cadet Field Training (West Point), and Northern Warfare Training (Alaska). Competition is intense, but the selected cadets are in for an experience of a lifetime.
