Admission Requirements
Minimum requirements to enter Pre-nursing major*

• Composite score of 1000 SAT (Math + Verbal), or a composite score of 22 ACT with a minimum math score of 22
• High school weighted GPA 3.0
• Transfer students: college weighted GPA 3.0
* Pre-nursing major students enter at the freshman or sophomore year and must apply to the upper division nursing program (junior and senior years) in the spring of the sophomore year. Admission into the junior year of coursework is competitive and not automatic and will be based on FSC grade point average (GPA), nursing prerequisite course grades, and performance on the HESI nursing entrance exam (taken early spring of sophomore year). Transfer students who have not met all nursing major prerequisite courses are required to enter into the pre-nursing major and complete all courses prior to applying for the upper division nursing program. The upper division junior class starts only in the fall of the respective academic year.

Minimum requirements to enter Nursing Scholars major**

• Composite score of 1100 SAT (Math + Verbal, either score must be 500 or greater), or a composite score of 24 ACT with a minimum math score of 24
• High school weighted GPA 3.5
• Transfer students: college weighted GPA 3.5
** Nursing Scholars Program (NSP) students enter in the freshman year from high school and will have a seat reserved in the upper division nursing program (junior and senior years) if they maintain a FSC GPA of 3.5 or better, maintain a B or better grade in all nursing prerequisite courses, and meet all nursing entry requirements including FDLE level II background checks, fingerprinting, drug testing, current CPR certification, and vaccinations. Note, Nursing Scholars Program students must take the HESI entrance exam in the early spring of their sophomore year and score at the 50th percentile or better.

Minimum requirements to transfer into upper division nursing program major***

• Composite score of 1000 SAT (Math + Verbal), or a composite score of 22 ACT with a minimum math score of 22
• High school weighted GPA 3.0
• Transfer students: college weighted GPA 3.0
*** Students from other colleges or universities may apply for the upper division nursing program if they meet all nursing prerequisite courses, meet the freshman entry requirement for pre-nursing major (above), and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or better in college level courses. Entry at the junior professional level is competitive and based on available space.
Note: students in the upper division nursing program which is the professional phase of the course of study (junior and senior year) will be designated as Nursing: BSN Majors. Prior to entering the junior year, students will be designated as: Nursing: Pre-Professional or Nursing: Nursing Scholars Majors
