Florida Southern Honors Program

The Honors Program is focused on supporting bright, highly-motivated students and on helping them to succeed and excel, whether through the physical amenities provided or by helping them take what they are learning to the next level. 

Tangible benefits include:

• Specialized opportunities for service learning and community outreach
• Permission to take up to twenty credit hours per semester with no additional tuition fees.
• Priority registration for classes
• Eligible for the FCHC Dr. Richard Piper Scholarship (nominated by Director, $1000)
• Invitation to apply for student grants of up to $1000 for thesis preparation, travel expenses, and research
• Qualified students in the Honors Program may take part in the FSC Honors Program – USF College of Medicine Medical Education Program. If Program qualifications are met, students receive priority admission to the University of South Florida College of Medicine
• Honors Lounge on campus
• Internship opportunities
• Honors Housing (optional)

FSC Honors Program Student Profile

Honors students generally represent the top ten percent of their class and have a 1260 minimum combined score on the SAT (or a minimum composite score of 28 on the ACT) and a high school GPA of 3.75 or higher.  In addition, honors students typically have a distinction in leadership, community service, athletics, or arts.

If I didn't enter FSC as an Honors student, can I join the program? What about transfer students?

You may apply to the Honors Program during your first year at Florida Southern.  In addition to having a minimum 3.5 GPA, you will be required to write and submit an essay in which you explain your interest in becoming part of the Honors Program.  Transfer students may also be eligible for the Honors Program on a case-by-case basis, particularly if they were honors students at their previous schools.
