Labs & Instrumentation

At Florida Southern, we believe you can gain a true understanding of science only by experiencing it. Integral to our program is the introduction of instrumentation early in the curriculum.

Through your lab experiences you will become familiar with a wide range of cutting-edge instrumentation used in the analysis of chemical composition and structure.

Spectrometers:

a Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectrometer (NMR)
a Buck Scientific Model 210 VPG Atomic Absorption Spectrometer
a CECIL Model CE 2041 Ultra/Violet-Visible Spectrophotometer
a S100 Ultra/Violet-Visible Spectrophotometer
a Nicolet Model Avatar 320 Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer
a Schimadtzu Model RF 5307 Fluorescence Spectrometer

Chromatographers:

a Gow Mac 550 Gas Chromatograph
Hewlett Packard Model 5890 Gas Chromatograph
  Knauer High Performance Liquid Chromatograph

Computers are also found throughout the laboratories and are used for gathering and analyzing data, molecular modeling, and internet access.
