Biology Degree in Environmental Studies

Environmental Studies is another major in the Biology Department.

Beginning in the late 1960’s, the modern environmental movement grew out of public awareness of a need for action in addressing environmental issues. Encompassing issues such as climate change, conservation, water and soil contamination, responsible use of natural resources, waste management and air pollution, environmental science is a multi-disciplinary field of scientific investigation.

Studying the interactions among physical, chemical, and biological components, environmental scientists work to understand the interrelationships of the natural world, to identify and analyze environmental problems both natural and human-made, to evaluate the relative risks associated with these problems, and to examine alternative solutions for resolving and/or preventing them.
