Challenge Your Mind
In excited conversation we have glimpses of the universe, hints of power native to the soul, far-darting lights and shadows of an Andes landscape, such as we can hardly attain in lone meditation. Here are oracles sometimes profusely given, to which the memory goes back in barren hours. -- Ralph Waldo Emerson For students who thrive on academic challenges, learning is a way of life. They seek out people who challenge their minds, who force them to defend their opinions, and who inspire them to push beyond their limitations. In short, they want to enter the great conversation of scholarship.
If you seek advanced academic challenges, then connect with the Honors Program at Florida Southern College. You’ll thrive in a program that’s built on great scholarly interaction—the kind that has been taking place for centuries. You will ask—and answer—the really tough questions in engaging class discussions with fellow students and faculty. You will sharpen your critical thinking, writing, research, and presentation skills. Choosing from several programs of study designed to stimulate your mind, you’ll take at least six courses of a special curriculum. You will experience an interdisciplinary semester during your freshman year, seminars during your freshman and sophomore years, and the honors colloquia during your junior and senior years. As a member of the Association of Honors Students you’ll meet other student scholars and participate in special events. Plus you will be eligible for scholarships offered exclusively to honors students and will be able to preregister for classes before other underclassmen. How will you achieve and succeed as an honors student at FSC? Read on and find out how you can bring your voice to our conversation. |
