Gage Nicholas Interning with Rep. Dennis Ross R. Lakeland, Florida- Spring 2012

Gage Nicholas is a Junior Political Science major at FSC and will be interning with Rep. Dennis Ross (R-Lakeland) for the Spring 2012 semester. Gage is the second FSC student to intern with Ross. Cynthia Navarro Interning through The Washington Center with Sen. Schumer D. New York- Spring 2012

Cynthia Navarro is a Senior Communications major at Florida Southern College, currently interning for Senator Schumer (D-NY); she is a participant in The Washington Center's Capitol Hill program.  Cynthia is a George Jenkins scholar; she first became interested in going to Wasnhington for the semester after she spent a week on "Summer Odyssey" there in 2011.

Fall 2011 & Spring 2012 Internships

Fall Internships now building - please apply before September 16th in the Political Science office. Openings for all students, regardless of class. Declared majors and minors receive first consideration. Internships in law, law enforcement, non-profit organizations, service organizations, and political offices are available. Apply now for Spring internships in Washington with Rep. Dennis Ross, Rep. Connie Mack, and Senator Bill Nelson (all are competitive). FSC Student Selected to Attend the Hesselbein Student Leadership Summit

Charlotte Garraway, a Political Science major and honors student (and President of Pi Sigma Alpha, the Political Science honorary), has been selected (all expenses paid) to attend the Hesselbein Student Leadership Summit July 23-26, 2011 at the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Their materials note that she will be "Joining 50 top student leaders from across the world to learn how to be effective, ethical, and innovative leaders. Participants will work alongside distinguished mentors who will share their expertise and provide advanced leadership training. Students will emerge from the academy with the skills and experience to excel as global leaders".

The College Republicans and College Democrats jointly hosted United States Congressman Connie Mack on June 9. Congressman Mack expressed his appreciation for this cooperation. "We shouldn't be fighting about Republican and Democratic ideas," he said. "We should be together, fighting for freedom."
