Training for Volunteer Attorneys and Judges

The Justice Teaching Center provides training and professional development opportunities for teachers, attorneys, and judges to advance civic learning and law-related education partnerships in Florida’s K-12 public and private schools.

The Justice Teaching Center prepares attorneys and judges to engage with students of all ages in the classroom. All training is nonpartisan and standards-based. Training can be conducted in-person or via Zoom. A new recorded session is also available for individual use. Contact apitts@flsouthern.edu to schedule local training or request access to virtual or recorded sessions. Volunteers will learn about the status of civic education in Florida and the nation, current content covered in civic education and law classes in elementary and secondary schools, and best practices and lesson demonstrations for the classroom.

Professional Development Opportunities for Teachers

We offer teachers and district level administrators opportunities to participate in professional development programs for civics, government, and law. We provide content-specific training and program-specific training programs that are aligned with the new state civics and government standards. To schedule a training for your district or to acquire resources, contact apitts@flsouthern.edu. Training is provided for elementary, middle, and high school civics, government, and law teachers.

All sessions are nonpartisan and provide best practices, high impact strategies conducted by veteran civics, government, and law trainers.

Special Events Training and Opportunities
