Department of Safety and Security
Personnel

Besides setting the direction of the Safety Department, our Safety Director is responsible for compiling the Annual Crime Statistics, reviewing ticket appeals, marketing the services of the Safety Department, conducting orientation and safety-training programs for the campus community and interacting with local law enforcement officials.

Our Safety Officers are generally the first contact with the college community as they patrol the campus 24 hours a day throughout the day. They provide basic security and protection for the college community and are licensed as "Class D" officers by the State of Florida. The license requires 40 hours of training, a background check and fingerprinting process.
Prior to hire, the officers undergo a thorough background check for criminal and driving histories, psychological testing and an interview process. Once hired, officers participate in an in-house training program and annual training in critical areas. These include community oriented policing, first aid/CPR, positive parking enforcement, report writing, investigations and customer service training.
Our Safety Specialist and Assistant installs, maintains and programs burglar and security systems providing a secure environment for our college community. They also maintain fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, smoke detectors and fire alarm systems.
Safety Dispatchers monitor college emergency telephone lines and fire, intrusion, and panic alarms throughout the campus. They dispatch Safety Officers to incidents and alarms for assistance and emergencies, documenting their actions in a logbook of activities.  After hours they answer all college telephone lines, providing general campus information to the public.
Our Office Assistant acts as the primary customer service representative for the Campus Safety Department by handling front desk requests including creating identification cards and parking permits for students, staff and faculty. Our assistant also handles clerical functions relating to traffic violations and maintaining official documents and records in appropriate files.
Our Telephone Operator compiles and maintains current information for the telephone directory and distributes telephones and cable TV cords to students.

All Campus Safety personnel are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life on campus through service.
